Hale Coffee is a Toronto based specialty coffee micro roaster.

We source the highest quality coffee beans from around the world (our team physically travels to specialty coffee farms in countries around the equator belt such as Nicaragua, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia etc..) and bring back the green coffee beans for roasting here at 1485 DuPont Street (The Junction Triangle).

We then package the coffees into bags that are shipped out (we personally deliver and do not rely on a third party courier) the coffee to your cafe, bakery or restaurant.

What to expect

In this 3 hour session, time will be spent studying the basics of espresso. These include flavour recognition, extraction, and brewing. It’s easy to overlook the fact that making the perfect espresso is a science - this is where we come in.

We will explore what it means to make espresso the right way, and juxtapose that against what it means to make espresso poorly. When it comes to pulling the perfect shot, there is an ideal extraction method. Comparing the best to the worst is essential in understanding this skill.

You will then leave with knowledge on how to dial in an espresso grinder and make a consistent espresso. 

*Every student will be given a complimentary bag of Hale Coffee at the end of the session. 340 grams of your choosing

Brew methods

To become the ultimate home brewer! We will explore all the important steps associated with using one of two of your favourite brew methods. 

Included brew methods = Aeropress, V60, Kalita or Chemex. We will calibrate your hand mill grinder or home burr grinder (bring it with you!) and see how consistent grinds are key to a consistent coffee extraction. 

Home brews can be PHENOMENAL. Let us show you exactly how and why.

Milk Steaming and Latte Art

Interested in learning how to steam milk flawlessly?

Consider this a boot camp in the art of steaming milk. We will go over techniques that allow you to properly steam milk because we know it’s difficult to maintain consistency without training.

The final hour will be spent breaking down different milk based beverages and focusing on how to pour milk onto espresso. Get in tune with your inner latte art expert.
