Hale Coffee is a Toronto based specialty coffee micro roaster.

We source the highest quality coffee beans from around the world (our team physically travels to specialty coffee farms in countries around the equator belt such as Nicaragua, Brazil, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia etc..) and bring back the green coffee beans for roasting here at 1485 DuPont Street (The Junction Triangle).

We then package the coffees into bags that are shipped out (we personally deliver and do not rely on a third party courier) the coffee to your cafe, bakery or restaurant.

If you REALLY love us, you can stay tuned to this page. We will post things about our coffees, our wholesale partners and a lot on farming and brewing.

De Mello Palheta - Cupping Session

The Hale Crew

here we go :) let's start off with a TGIF for those to whom it applies

We will catch you up on all it is the crew has been up to (including opening the Montreal markets), but first, lets talk coffee cupping at De Mello Palheta, who hosted a group of local #Toronto roasters and espresso bars to try out 30 different beans, roasted by multiple roasters from Korea, Australia, Canada and the US.

The crew got to see good friends from boxcar social, red eye espresso, rsquared, early bird espresso and obviously de mello.

We tried and actually managed to take back with us a bunch of coffees, mainly from the US & Australia (we missed out on the excellent Coffee Libre of Korea in the final auction). Clement, Phil and Seb, Bows & Arrows, Axil & Seven Seeds.

For the next week or so, we will indulge in what we managed to take back to the lab with us, we will invite friends to bring over what they managed to take home with them in order to rediscover all that was tested (and loved) last night.

With that, we'd like to bring a small bit of attention towards the new blends we are coming up with, they will be released sometime this April and we hope that last nights experience and the interaction with all these knowledgeable people will aid us in pushing out an even better blend (espresso & drip) than we currently have in beta

Le Meridien; innovative & not-genuine

The Hale Crew

The new program is being led by the expertise of Fritz Storm, the 2002 World Barista Champion and trainer of several high placing World Barista competitors—including Fabrizio Ramirez who finished 2nd and Miki Suzuki who finished 4th in the 2012 WBC. The new program will complement 100 locations where the lobbies have been transformed into hubs that provide a more coffee shop-like atmosphere.

The disappointing part of all this is that Le Méridien has partnered with Illy to provide the program’s coffee. If the focus was truly on elevating the coffee experience as well as creating a more personal interaction about the city where each hotel is located,  it would have been great if they worked with local or regional roasters. Instead they’ll be providing a bland coffee that many other hotels (and grocery stores) already offer.
