The Biloya Story:

This lot was sourced in conjunction with Tracon, one of Ethiopia's largest
coffee exporters. They have worked to establish community washing stations throughout the country in order to provide an outlet for small farmers to be able to sell their coffee cherries to specialty buyers outside of Ethiopia. This lot is comprised of 480 small lot farmers who live within walking distance of this community station located in Yirgacheffe town in the Yirgacheffe region.
Produced by smallholder contributors to Biloya washing station, in the districts and kebeles of the Gedeo Zone in Yirgachefe. In the southern region of Ethiopia, farmers pick coffee selectively, harvesting only ripe cherries individually by hand. Pickers rotate among the trees every eight to ten days, choosing only the cherries which are at peak ripeness.
